Unlike most people I know; I am eagerly awaiting snow. There is beauty in how mother nature decorates the land scape. This being the first "winter" on the farm...well...I want to see how it gets decorated. :)
Morning walks around the property have reveled elderberry, wild cherry, mulberry and beautyberry. Taking notice of where the birds hang out and how we can situate a bench or chair in their midst. A little sanctuary...for all involved.
The pond water froze over a few days back and the water level dropped by 4 inches. Ya, the ponds need a bit more intervention, but for now we wait to see what grass carp can do.
There is a little area, marshy mostly, that has wild aster around the edges. The birds are abundant and happy there too. Which makes me happy.
Farm thoughts: How to utilize the ponds? What kind of pump? How much hose and what size? I guess the elevation plays a part in this as well. I have my best man on the job (husband).
Flower thoughts: How much seed do I start now? I mean less than a half acre is what I had before and now I feel unlimited. However, we are staying with 5 100" beds right now. lol
Which is plenty! Something not to big and not to small. Somethings need to wait since I have noticed vole action.
Meanwhile, I still await Snow! The season is Merry!
